I removed the back with heat and a palette knife. The linings will have to be replaced because of the chipping from the palette knife and the old dried up glue that has separated the linings from the sides. The vertical braces will have to be removed as well because they have collapsed over time with the top. Next, I will repair the cracks in the top, make new braces, (an X-brace which will give more strength), replace the linings, then realign and glue the back to it's original shape.
