Albert Markasky

Sylvan Music's humble beginnings started with Al in a small shop in downtown Santa Cruz. Since then, he has built over 20 acoustic guitars and repaired & restored thousands of instruments. Come on in and he'll give you a Buckeye hello.

Greg Weber

Greg has been studying and playing music his whole life. He earned a degree in music at UCSC and has now been playing guitar for over 20 years. For the past 11 years Greg has been building world class guitars and repairing anything with strings on it.-

Mike Sparber

Mike Sparber has been playing guitar and mandolion for over 12 years. Since starting at Sylvan in 2004, he has emersed himself in the world of vintage instruments and eats up every bit of old wood knowledge he can find.

Kevin Bongard

A local since birth, Kevin has been working in the music business for over a decade. When not at Sylvan, you'll find him hugging the curves of the Santa Cruz mountains on his BMW motorcycle.

Ryan Avellone

When Ryan isn't keeping our showroom stocked with tube amps and effect pedals, he keeps busy by playing in almost every band in Santa Cruz. This SoCal transplant is helping to mold our local music scene one string at a time.

Mason Hutchinson

Having recently graduated with a music degree in jazz studies, Mason can often be found laying down groovy bass lines, chunky gypsy guitar rhythm, or expounding on the intricacies of music theory.

Alex Skrzypczak

Being the 'new guy' means Alex has to keep his serious fingerstyle chops under wraps so as not to embarass the shop veterans. And before you ask, it's pronounced 'skrip check'.
